Lay Dominican Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901-1925) was raised to sainthood on September 7th 2025 during Pope Leo XIV's first canonisation ceremony.

A portrait of Saint Pier Giorgio hangs in Holy Cross as an invitation to all visitors, but young men in particular, to reflect on the young saint's desire to live a meaningful and joyfully holy life. His motto 'verso l'alto', meaning 'to the heights', embodied his pursuit of greatness not only in his faith, his friendship with God and in his service to the poor and sick, but also in his personal achievements, which he considered an important part of living life to its fullest.

Placed either side of the portrait are a reflection on the Italian saint's life by Pope Saint John Paul II and an intercessory pray.  Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati, pray for us.
